Welcome to the John Lewis Elementary Library Media Center
The John Lewis Library Media Center strives to promote reading for excellence, achievement, development and success by providing a collection that is current, curriculum-based and in a variety of formats and levels. We have over 8,000 books, magazines for students and staff.
Homeroom classes are scheduled every other week for library lessons and checkout. The library maintains a flexible schedule so that teachers may sign-up to bring their whole class for further research or curriculum needs.
Kindergarten and First graders may check out one book for a period of two weeks. Students in Grades 2 and 3 may check out two books for a two-week period. 4th and 5th grade students may check out 3 or more, if they demonstrate responsible library behavior and book care. Teachers and staff have unlimited access to materials. Parents are welcome to check out materials as well.
No fines are charged for overdue books, but students will not be allowed to check out until the overdue books are returned. Lost or damaged books must be paid for according to DeKalb County School System’s policy.
