My name is Dr. LaShawn McMillan and I am the very proud Principal of John Lewis Elementary School. I have been in the field of education for 23 years and I have served in both DeKalb and Gwinnett County.  To be more specific, it has been my pleasure to serve as the Principal of Ashford Park Elementary, Arabia Mountain High School, and Cross Keys High School.  Prior to that time, I served as an Assistant Principal at Norcross High School and the Director of the Even Start Family Literacy Program within the Gwinnett County Public School System. 

I earned a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Georgia State University.  It is also important to note that I am a proud Double Dawg; both my Bachelor and Masters degrees are from The University of Georgia. Although I graduated over 10 years ago, I continue to engage in professional development as I firmly believe in lifelong learning. 

As the Principal of John Lewis Elementary School, I am committed to doing all that I can to raise the level of academic achievement for all students.  Further, I will work to remove all barriers to learning, while also securing additional resources through the development of community partnerships. I am so excited about the upcoming school year and I look forward to working with you on behalf of our students.
